Festivals are where we let our inner child run loose through vibrant clothes, silly costumes, face paint and dancing to our hearts’ content. Festivals are care-free summer havens - so it only makes sense that kids should be allowed to tag along!

With many family friendly festivals across the UK, there’s loads of choice for you and your little ones for a whole range of fun activities beyond just live music.

1. Green Man 18 - 21 August

Situated in the breathtaking Brecon Beacons in Wales, Green Man festival is enough to venture to simply for the views. However, with a jam packed line-up and activity options throughout the day, Green Man offers much more beyond serene views. With a “Little Folk” children’s area located handily beside the family camping area, your little ones won’t be far from you. Jungle is the theme for the kids area this year so make sure your little ones practice their scariest roars and silliest monkey impressions!

2. Camp Bestival, 28 - 31 July

Kids of all ages will be well accommodated for at Camp Bestival. With Big Top Mania where they can learn a circus skill, bikes and go-carts and big names in kids entertainment such as Mr Tumble, they won’t know where to start in this colourful wonderland. And with a line-up including Fatboy Slim and Jess Glynne to name but a few, there’s no chance of the grown-ups getting bored…

3. Just So 19 - 21 August

Described as being ‘for children and their families’, Just So festival in Cheshire has a big focus on the kids element for festivals. Situated in a wonderful woodland environment you and your family can immerse yourselves with theatre, music and workshops that are sure to kindle your inner creativity. With boutique camping options it’s possible to upgrade this really affordable festival experience!

4. Beautiful Days 19 - 21 August

With a kids area that had been co-ordinated by Majical Youth Theatre for over a decade, Beautiful Days is a festival with significant experience entertaining kids (it has been shortlisted for Best Family Festival 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.) There is dressing up, circus and story-telling in abundance - lots to keep your little ones occupied. Be quick however, this festival is almost sold out.

5. Down to the Woods 13th and 14th August

A brand new festival to the UK. Down to the Woods replaces Hardwick Live and 2016 will have more attractions than ever for your little explorers. From story-telling among the trees, magic shows and pottery making to bug sculptures, sun prints and friendship bracelet classes, this is not one to miss!
