Many of us struggle with a lack of energy. Working long hours, collecting the kids from school, getting pack lunches ready, walking the dog, making dinner… Life’s on-going to-do list can often feel overwhelming. Sometimes we need to incorporate small changes in our routines to up our energy levels and make our day to day routine feel a bit more manageable.

If you’re fed of feeling tired, we have a few, easy energy boosting tips for the next time you feel like you could fall asleep at your desk.


1. Avoid the Temptation of the Snooze Button

Whenever that dreaded alarm goes off and you just feel like you absolutely cannot wrench yourself from bed just ask yourself - is that extra ten minutes really worth it? Chances are it will simply make getting out of bed more difficult since you’ve got a taste of that lay in you’re not destined to have.

Instead, will yourself out of bed with the thoughts of a tasty breakfast. Sit in natural light to waken yourself up and take the time to ease yourself into the day and you’ll feel more energised than you would had you got those extra ten minutes.


2. Go Outside

When the afternoon rolls around and you can feel yourself start to slump, grab your coat and head outside. Even if it’s just for a few minutes, emerging yourself in fresh air and a change of scenery from your desk can help refresh you and leave you feeling more energised.


3. Tea

There’s a reason it’s the answer to every British person’s problems. A cuppa in the afternoon could be just what you need to get you through the afternoon. It has just the right amount of caffeine to give you a much needed boost.


4. Pay Attention to Your Breath

If you find yourself struggling to stay alert or even think clearly then a quick natural energy boost through posture and breathing could be all you need. Sitting up straight and breathing deep from our diaphragm helps to pump blood around our bodies and by doing that will aid in refreshing us and help us keep alert.


5. Music

Hearing an up-beat song that we love can instantly improve our moods. In our busy lives we can forget the small pleasures that have a more positive impact than we might imagine. Listen to a song you associate with fond memories.
