How to make more time for what you love

Ever feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day? Do you often complain about just how busy you are to anyone that will listen? Is finding time for the things you love a constant sore point? You have 24 hours in a day, just the same as everyone else, so it’s up to you to choose how to spend that time wisely and efficiently.

Make small changes

Rome wasn’t built in a day, so you shouldn’t expect to turn your whole life around in an instant. It’s a gradual process that needs effort and consistency.

Make a point of creating a to do list to organize your daily tasks and limit yourself to 30 minutes of social media a day. It’s amazing how much precious time can be wasted hopping from profile to profile and watching endless cute puppy and kitten videos! As funny and heart warming as they are, there are probably better things that you could be doing with your time.

If you have never had the time to fit in exercise, then it makes sense to assume that you can’t radically overhaul your healthy living routine in a day. Rather than try to get in an hours workout every day, go for a brisk 20 minute walk a couple of times a week. Make sure that the weather doesn’t get in the way of your routine and stock up on waterproof rainwear for changing conditions.

 

Set boundaries

Don’t feel the pressure to get involved in everything. Learn to say no and don’t commit to every event, social occasion and task. Spend time with people who lift you up, not those who drain you of your energy. If you don’t fancy meeting with someone, then don’t force yourself to show up with a smile. Delegate chores and only take on tasks that you can do well.

 

Eat that frog

The hardest tasks are always the ones that you should tackle first. Work through your toughest chores first thing in the morning, so you can move on to the tasks and projects that bring you joy. Be kind to yourself

If you don’t love something or aren’t taking any pleasure from it, then don’t do it. Don’t feel the need to continue with something that isn’t fulfilling you. Some laborious and tedious tasks are essential and need to be done, but if it’s not necessary to you, or if it can be delegated, then let it go and focus on other more exciting tasks.

 

Stop making excuses

The best way to get a kickstart on your productivity and make more time for the things you love is to simply, stop making excuses! Train yourself to believe that you do have an abundance of time and that it’s all about how you manage it. Develop a schedule that works for you and be consistent. Practice makes perfect after all.
