Tips for a Stress-Free Morning

Tips for a Stress-Free Morning - Lighthouse

Chances are if you’re reading this blog post you aren’t one of those few and far between, altogether mystifying “morning people.”

For the large majority, getting out of bed in the morning can be a real struggle. Whether you’re getting up for work five mornings a week or getting the kids organised for school or maybe even both, rolling out of bed at crazy o’clock can feel like a hugely stressful ordeal.

Luckily there are a few ways we can reduce stress in and transform your morning into something very close to bearable. Yes, it is possible, we promise. Just try incorporating a few of these easy tips and pressing the snooze button might not hold the same temptation it previously did as you finally nail the best morning routine!

Organisation

It’s a bit of a no-brainer but getting organised the night before for the day ahead is super important in keeping stress at bay. Having simple things done such as having an outfit picked and laid out, uniforms ironed, shoes sitting where you expect them to be and even a tea bag in your mug and the kettle filled will all make a huge difference to your morning and consequently your day altogether.

Of course, it’s all easier said than done. Spending your evening relaxing, watching tv or reading a book and putting things off until the morning can be tempting but remember - getting things organised will only take a few minutes, a few minutes that could reduce a massive amount of stress in the morning when you can’t find that one pair of shoes you wanted to wear!

Take 15 Minutes Out to Relax

Yep, admittedly this is extra time that could be spent in bed. However, is that extra 15 minutes really worth it? If you struggle to adjust to a new day and need a bit of time to ease yourself into it, getting up that few minutes earlier to quietly sit with a hot drink and a book and just relax before the day starts can be a great idea. It will (hopefully) set the tone for the rest of you day.

A Tasty Breakfast

There is a reason they say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day… You’ve been fasting over night and your body is in need of immediate nourishment to get you ready for the day ahead! Fix yourself up a tasty breakfast, after all, what better motivation to get out of bed for than food!

Shower the Night Before

Not only will it free up essential minutes in your morning but scheduling your shower for the night before will relax you before bedtime and possibly help you sleep better - win-win, eh?

Remove Distractions

This goes for both you and the kids… Whenever you actually get out of bed in the morning, getting bogged down by distraction such as social media, watching TV or reading magazine can slow you down and even de-motivate you for the day ahead and the steps involved to get you read for that! Try saving these for when you have the all-important stuff done and have miraculously found some time to kill before setting out the door!
